Instructor: Donna Britain has over 40 years of teaching and sewing experience and successfully encourages her students to be accurate, and creative. Students' results are amazing.
Experience level: This class is for the beginner to intermediate student who wants to increase their skill and accuracy in piecing. It is also for the student wanting to complete a quilt from start to finish with guidance all along the way. You will also learn quilting vocabulary, proper pressing techniques, and develop skills to make your rotary cutting accurate. The final sessions of the class will teach adding borders, layering a quilt to be quilted, quilting the quilt, and binding. The small class size will allow time for more individualized instruction.
One block will be made each month, followed by finishing techniques in the last months. There will be an emphasis on using a consistent ¼” seam and developing good quilting habits, the basis of successful quilting.
Bring these supplies to each class: Sewing machine, thread, bobbin, scissors, rotary cutter, ruler, stiletto, seam ripper, straight pins, fabric for block and any other basic sewing supplies you find useful. You will also need a fabric kit, explained in the description above, or bring your own
fabric to class.
